The Best Camera Phones

The most important thing about a smartphone is the camera. We know which mobile phone has the best shots.

Who would have thought that the camera would be so important for smartphones and mobile phones? When buying a new camera, the quality of the images plays a very important role and the manufacturers are now working with the big players in the industry to equip their devices in the best possible way. Here you will find the best camera smartphones.

Huawei P30 Pro

The air is thin at the top and opinions probably differ here as well. Nevertheless, the Huawei P30 Pro with its quad camera and 40 megapixel main sensor is more than well done. Compared to the previous models, the improvements are clearly in the bokeh mode and zoom areas.

Thanks to the time-of-flight lens, which is used for distance measurement, portrait images get even more information and appear more realistic. Bokeh effects are also enhanced. Another great feature is the fivefold optical zoom, which can be increased to a factor of 50 by software – but currently no more than a numbers game.

All in all the Huawei P30 Pro delivers an otherwise very good result and also at night still succeeds in taking impressive pictures. When it comes to video recording, it is the good stabilization that makes it easy to achieve good results. The normal Huawei P30, on the other hand, has to accept a few minor compromises.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Is the camera of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro now the best camera you can find in a smartphone? A very difficult question, because we find light and a little shadow here. But first it has to be said that the three lenses give you an enormous range of possibilities.

In addition to the 40 megapixel sensor, there is also a telephoto lens and an ultra-wide angle lens. The wide-angle lens is also used for macro photography in addition to its original use, and that’s a real added value. Altogether different focal lengths are possible and you have a fivefold digital zoom.

The overall results are absolutely great and the only small drawback to the P20 Pro is the lack of the monochrome sensor, which is a bank in depth of field. Otherwise you can also use the AI in video mode now. It has to be said that the Triple Camera from Huawei is very versatile and in that respect it is certainly the best camera on the market.

Samsung Galaxy S10 (Plus)

Much has been said about the Samsung Galaxy S10 and opinions differ. But sometimes there are even small updates that can help and together with our colleagues from DxOMark we agree that the triple camera of the S10 (Plus) is a feast for the eyes: We have the main sensor with 16 megapixels, an ultra-wide angle lens and a telephoto lens.

The perfect white balance and the very successful colour translation are impressive. The supreme discipline is taking pictures in poor lighting conditions and the Galaxy S10 hardly produces any noise. The zoom works incredibly well at short distances and the overall depth of detail is impressive. Those who like Selfies will find their master in the S10 (Plus)! There are prints when the zoom is moved to distant subjects.

Huawei P20 Pro

The Huawei P20 Pro was eagerly awaited. It is well known that Huawei builds good camera smartphones. This is certainly due not only to the software but also to the cooperation with Leica. The P20 Pro now comes with a triple camera and three lenses for a breathtaking result. The main camera delivers 40 megapixels, the second camera with a monochrome sensor delivers 20 MP and the telephoto lens 8 MP.

Huawei has managed to take breathtaking pictures, especially in poor lighting conditions. In addition, there is a zoom function that has never been seen on a smartphone of this quality before. Even in normal daylight the details are enormous and there is hardly any noise. At DxOMark they speak of the biggest innovation in a long time and we still have a nice test video for you.

iPhone Xs (Max)

It wasn’t quite enough for the iPhone Xs Max. The Apple device is undoubtedly a cell phone with a good camera and this has been improved compared to the iPhone X. Apple again uses a dual camera, in which both lenses have a resolution of 12 megapixels – one lens serves as optical zoom. But Huawei still has some slight advantages here.

The many details captured by the camera are impressive on the iPhone Xs, and the colleagues at DxOMark are enthusiastic about the fast autofocus. Overall, the exposure of the images is almost optimal and the revised Bokeh mode works more accurately. Also the creation of videos has been optimized and a strong image stabilization makes working easier.

Xiaomi Mi 9

The fact that Xiaomi also produces smartphones with an outstanding camera is proven by the Mi 9. With its current flagship, Xiaomi manages to get very close to the top. The DxOMark colleagues even see the device ahead of the iPhone Xs Max. The Triple-Cam has a resolution of 48 megapixels, a telephoto lens (12 MP) and a wide-angle lens (16 MP).

As far as photos are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 9 scores well in almost all conditions and noise is only noticeable in really bad light. Anyway, criticism is basically not appropriate and in comparison to Huawei there is a minimal drop in contrast to be noticed. Otherwise, we have an almost optimal camera here that will inspire you.
